San Gorgonio Mountain

Old Grey back mountain is the highest peak in Southern California standing at 11,503ft. This 18.5-mile round trip hike is considered a very hard and strenuous hike with the elevation increase of over 5,000 ft.

This five-day walk-a-bout is great for all skill levels.  I have taken groups of young children on this trek.  It is a very empowering experience for all.

Not only will you learn basic camping and backpacking skills but also hands on survival skills like: 

 - water purification

 - food preparation

 - edible/medicinal plants

 - shelter

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive at camp grounds. Learn basics backpacking skills; covering clothing, hygiene nutrition, shelter, etiquette.

Day 2 - Hike to Vivian Creek Camp (7,100’)

Day 3 - Hike to Halfway Camp, including short trail hikes (8,100’)

Day 4 - From Halfway hike to Peak (11,503’) and back down to Halfway Camp (8,100)

Day 5 - Complete hike to trail head
